Every weekend I list several blog posts from the week that I thought were really good. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day! In most of the country, this holiday isn’t really much of a big deal. However, we live fairly close to the University of Notre Dame, so it is quite a big deal around here. There’s a parade, and they even color a section of a local river green in celebration. I’m sure business will be booming at all the local bars and taverns.
In other news, we had to replace our water heater recently. Boo! We knew it was pretty old and that it was probably getting close to its last days. But, we have our house for sale and were hoping that we wouldn’t be living here anymore when it finally gave up the ghost. Luck didn’t go our way on that one. It also didn’t help that it went out over the weekend, so we had to pay the higher weekend rates to have one installed. The net result was a cost of $1,200 for a new water heater plus installation. Ouch. There is a bright side to the story in that at least we were home when it decided to go out. We were getting ready to do some shopping but hadn’t quite left yet. It’s a good thing too, because we would have come back to a flood. Since we were home, I was able to quickly shut off the water and gas to the unit, throw some towels down, and prevent a water disaster.

Thanks so much for the mention. Sorry to hear about the water heater, that happened to use a few years ago and was no fun at all.

wow, now I don’t feel so bad about my $1100 water softener that decided to die on us last month. We rent our water heater and pay about $140 every 3 months so $1200 isn’t so bad to own it. Most people rent their water heater that we know so if anything goes wrong we don’t pay to fix or replace it. Happy St.Paddy’s day! Thanks for sharing my post! Mr.CBB
