Friends of the Family: Fish Fry Edition

fish fryEvery weekend I list several blog posts from the week that I thought were really good. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Every year during lent, it’s very common to see signs advertising fish fries pretty much every weekend. I think every fraternal benefits organization around here has a fish fry once a month or so, ranging from the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Police, etc. It’s usually an all-you-can eat deal for $8 or so. We went to one yesterday in the town where my in-laws live. It always amazes me how much people can really eat. Now, I’m no feather-weight when it comes to eating. I can certainly eat my fair share of food. But there was a guy sitting next to me at the fish fry that put me to shame. He was asking for more fish, beans, and potato salad for quite some time after I was finished. I think the place definitely lost money on his meal.

Are any of you fans of the fish fry? They can be hit or miss in terms of meal quality, but this one was definitely a hit.

That looks awesome mate. One thing I miss about home is a good fish fry. I can eat my fair share as well but I stop when I’ve had enough although it’s hard when it’s deep fried goodness. Enjoy your week mate. Cheers and thanks for sharing CBB!

Thanks for the mention! I’m not a big fish fan so I’d have to pass on the fish fry.

Thanks for the mention! I have an unusual relationship with fried fish. I normally avoid it like the plague, except when I’m anywhere “English”. Last summer when we were in Grand Cayman I hate “fish and Chips” everyday. Back in the states, meh!

I’ve never been to a “fish fry” but I do enjoy fish and chips. My preference is halibut.

Thanks for the mention and have a great week!
