On Saturdays I list several blog posts from the week that I thought were really good. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
Tonight is my company’s annual holiday party, which should be fun. It’s at a nice banquet center, the entertainment is usually pretty good, and they have this big chocolate fondue fountain. I know the company spends thousands of dollars on it, and it’s a nice gesture. It’s semi-formal, so my wife will be wearing a dress, and I’ll be wearing a suit and tie. They have this every year and always send out an e-mail about a week in advance to the employees with an ‘Etiquette Guide’ explaining the do’s and dont’s of the holiday party. For example, do dress nice but do not dress like you’re going to the club. It didn’t say that word for word, but the same general idea. It’s amazing that people even need to be reminded of how to act at these things, but every year I see people get drunk and make fools of themselves. Does your workplace have a holiday party, and has anyone seen people go a bit overboard and embarrass themselves?

Thanks for the mention Justin! We had the same email before our party last year. But, when you set up a free bar with unlimited hard booze, it’s bound to bring out a few who just don’t know any better to not get drunk in front of the co-workers.

Thanks for the mention! An Etiquette Guide to go with the party? I love it! We could have used that at our last company outing. There was one guy in an “I’m with Stupid shirt”. It’s like some people don’t know how to leave the house …

I loved getting dressed up for big parties like that. I hope you had lots of fun! You are right, it is amazing that some people need to be told how to behave. Thanks so much for the link love as well. Hope this week goes well for you!!
